Who Benefits?
If you want to continue your education, like the flexibility of logging onto a computer to attend class at any time or place, and have the self-discipline to work independently, you can benefit from UW Colleges Online courses.
If you are:
currently employed, you may want to take classes or pursue a degree through your employer's education program. Some employers provide tuition reimbursement and/or the use of company computers to pursue classes. Online courses mean you can work day or night and still take courses at times convenient to you. Some of our online returning adult learners have taken courses from various places around the country while traveling for their jobs.
a stay-at-home parent, online courses offer you the convenience and flexibility of working from your home.
presently enrolled in another college or university, you may want to supplement your studies by taking UW Colleges Online courses. This can be a way to enhance your undergraduate experience or accelerate your progress toward a degree. Perhaps you want to make up some general education credits or would just prefer to take a course with only 20-30 other students as opposed to a huge lecture or large class. If you're wondering how your credits will transfer within the UW System, check our Transfer of Credits system. If your home college is outside of the UW System, talk to your home campus academic advisor about getting approval to transfer an online course from UW Colleges.
a high school student, UW Colleges Online courses can supplement your high school experience, enable you to earn college credits for later transfer to the college or university of your choice, or meet additional college admissions requirements. Wisconsin high school students may qualify for the Youth Options program. For more information or to see if you qualify for Youth Options, contact your high school counselor.
someone who has temporarily delayed your studies because of time commitments, a recent move, unavailability of courses on a nearby campus, or because you're geographically too far from a college campus, then UW Colleges Online courses offer you a more flexible schedule and convenience.
