COM 203: News and Informational Writing provides course readings and exercises that focus on news writing, specifically news writing for print media. However, students also discuss news writing for broadcast and online media. Most writing assignments and exercises are short in length, but some do require planning ahead of time: for example, the Speech Story requires students to attend a speech or meeting in their area in advance of the due date for the assignment so they will have plenty of time to write about the event.
