Welcome.
In this course, MAT 108: Quantitative Reasoning, students will use mathematics to model and analyze problems from the natural and social sciences. There will be a good deal of mathematical content as well. Quantitative reasoning courses such as this one have become more common in recent years as an appropriate way for many students to meet some of their general education requirements in mathematics. This course will hopefully enhance the student's ability to understand and apply the language of mathematics.
Keep in mind that web courses in general, and even more so, a mathematics web course, require a great deal of work and dedication on the student's part. The profits of learning this material in this manner are rich and something that the student will keep for a life time. The benefits of being able to choose their own times to work on the course and their own setting will hopefully add to the student's enjoyment of the content. A topic such as this, can be mastered by keeping an honest and clear open line of communication.
