[MAT 113] Trigonometry

Introduction

Mathematics can sometimes be difficult to learn online. Reading the text without access to a teacher in a classroom situation might sometimes create confusion. It is strongly recommended to attempt the assignments WELL IN ADVANCE of the deadline so that questions can be asked. Your professor can give guidance and assistance by providing examples of related homework questions, which students from past semesters have found to be very useful.

Description

The successful completion of the equivalent of one course in geometry is a prerequisite for all credit mathematics courses.

UW Colleges Catalog Course Description for MAT 113:Trigonometry - 2 credits. Trigonometric functions, their basic properties and graphs, identities, inverse trigonometric functions, solving trigonometric equations, solutions of triangles. This course fulfills the UWC requirement for Mathematical Sciences (MS).

Prerequisites: (a) a grade of C or better in MAT 110 or (b) concurrent registration in MAT 110 or (c) placement based on placement test score.

This course is a prerequisite for Math 221-223, our intensive calculus sequence intended for those majoring in math, engineering or any of the physical sciences. Some majors may require 221.
