For Fall 2013 - Applications for admission as a special/non-degree student must be submitted electronically no later than Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Steps to Register

  1. Have your PRISM User ID and Password Ready

You must have your PRISM User ID and Password to register. If you forget your PRISM user ID or password, the UW Colleges Student Account Self Service page will help you to retrieve that information.

  2. View the Tutorials

We encourage you to view the Student Help tutorials before registering, even if you have taken classes with us in the past.

  3. Sign in to PRISM

    1. Navigate to the PRISM Home Page
    2. Sign in using your user ID and password

PRISM will allow you to view any holds that have been placed on your record that may affect your ability to register for classes; therefore, check your record to determine if you have any holds.

  4. Register for Classes

Prior to registering in PRISM, all students are encouraged to coordinate class scheduling with the assistance of their home campus academic advisor. Failure to use the academic advising services can result in missed opportunities, overlooked requirements, and transfer problems.

To register for a class, read the instructions provided in the Add a Class PRISM Student Help Tutorial. When registering in PRISM, the Subject is a 3-letter abbreviation (e.g. ENG for English) and the Catalog Number is 3 digits (e.g. 102).

If the class is closed, you can use the UW Colleges Online Wait List Request Form to add your name to the waitlist. You must have a UW-Colleges e-mail address to request placement on a wait list. Wait list requests are processed in the order they are received, and wait lists are cleared once registration has closed for the current term.

  5. Pay the Tuition Fees

Your seat in the course is not secure and your registration is not complete until your online tuition is paid in full, OR until UW Colleges Online confirms you have sufficient financial aid to cover your Online tuition in full. Failure to meet this requirement will result in your removal from your course(s) when a course is full or at the close of registration. You will not receive an invoice; tuition must be paid online.

    To pay online:

    1. Sign in to PRISM
    2. Select Self Service > Student Center > Make a Payment
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions

Note: additional charges apply when paying with credit card. MasterCard and Discover are accepted.

After Registration and Payment

Review the Class Orientation section once you are guaranteed a seat in an Online course. It is critical that you review this information prior to the first day of class.
